FILM DREAMS

A few years ago I began seeing images in my mind’s eye concerning my favorite film comedians, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. I decided to write these images down and set them free. Doing that opened up a new form of fiction writing for me, and a series of pieces quickly ensued: flights of the imagination I call Film Dreams, all inspired by the movies, and all reflecting my own detailed research, often utilizing little-known facts about the people. They’re also intensely personal pieces, expressions of my own enthusiasms, interwoven with fragments of my life history.
To date I’ve written thirteen stories, employing a range of narrative structures – first-person storytelling, dialogue, monologue, hymn, interview – and varying in length from 350 words to 2300 words. The subjects are:

Laurel & Hardy

John Huston

D.W. Griffith

Frank Capra

Edward D. Wood Jr.

Lee Remick

Michael Reeves

Mothra

George Stevens

Luchino Visconti

Orson Welles

Marilyn Monroe

Luis Buñuel

All 13 Film Dreams have been published by Dove’s Diner Inc.
