This show, first broadcast on May 17, 2015, is devoted to the work of two composer/conductors: American Gunther Schuller and France’s Pierre Boulez. Along with Schuller’s own modernist scores, his recordings with the Ebony Band, championing Robert F. Graettinger, are heard. Boulez’s own electro-acoustic composition is complemented by his leading the Cleveland Orchestra in the music of Claude Debussy. The music played is:
