
This program, first broadcast on September 22, 2013, recaps fundamentals of Daoist thought and discusses their expression in the music of Tan Dun, Chinese-American composer whose music has embraced a range of styles and media; Dave Brubeck, the beloved jazz composer and improviser; Louis Andriessen, Dutch composer who took minimalism in new directions; Horatiu Radulescu, Romanian-French composer whose spectral works explored new tunings as well as equal temperament; and free-jazz master Sun Ra.
