KALW RADIO SHOW #4: Women’s History Month

This program, first broadcast on March 9, 2025, celebrates Women’s History Month with a survey of women composers, beginning with a song from the Mother Of Us All, Hildegard von Bingen. Twentieth-century modernism is represented by choral music from Lili Boulanger and Ruth Crawford Seeger, piano music by Johanna M. Beyer and Vivian Fine, an orchestral score by Florence Price, and a song cycle for soprano and orchestra by Rhian Samuel. The postmodern works of the 20th century are an electronic classic by Pauline Oliveros, Meredith Monk singing at the piano, a graphic score by Anne LeBaron, Ellen Fullman and her Long String Instrument, and Beata Moon playing her piano music.
